Utilizing concepts and principles of barrier-free design and universal access, Disability Awareness Consultants delivers a detailed survey of the planned or built environment and surrounding property. This will determine accessibility for people who live with chemical and environmental sensitivities as well as physical, hearing, vision, speech, learning, intellectual, neurological or psychiatric disabilities. The Disability Awareness Consultants advantage lies in our ability to suggest simple and inexpensive solutions to many problems, often without costly renovations.

Duration
To be determined by the size of the property and the amount of detail requested by the client.

Evaluation Criteria

• Universal features - walls, doorways, doors, floor space and hallways
• Signage and colour usage
• Accessibility of parking, entrances, washrooms, restaurants, meeting rooms, recreation facilities, etc.
• Systemic policies and routines that create barriers
• Emergency planning for people with disabilities

Analysis

• Experienced staff can work from architects' drawings
• Data is rated using a Disability Awareness Consultants Access Profile
• Data is analyzed from the perspective of an access standard that serves as a benchmark for identifying levels of accessibility
• Report preparation containing detailed analysis and recommendations
• Material suppliers and costing included upon request

Cost
$150.00 per hour for all services (site visit, analysis, report preparation), plus GST
